A personalized video game gift: their life, turned into a 16-bit adventure

Imagine opening a link and finding a video game where you're the hero: your street is the map, your friends are the characters and the story is made of things that actually happened to you. That's what we make: a custom video game about one real person, as a gift.

It's a short, memorable retro game in the style of the early-nineties consoles: 15 to 25 minutes of adventure chapters, action minigames, hidden secrets and a final boss, ending with your message on screen. No template with a name pasted in: every scene comes from what you tell us.

From 59 € · You get it within 7 days of completing the guide (72 h with Rush).

The demo is the game of Grandad Ray, a made-up grandad turning 70.

How a personalized video game works

  1. Tell us who they are

Our guide asks the right questions, about 10 minutes: what they're like, their catchphrases, their people, their places and their best stories. It saves itself and you can finish another day. Photos if you like, for their pixel portrait.

  2. We write and build their game

We show you the script before building it. It's ready 7 days after we have their full story, or in 72 hours with the rush option.

  3. Give it to them whenever the moment is right

They get a private link. It plays on a phone, a computer or the TV, with nothing to install.

Ideas for what their game could include

  • Their world as the map

Their home, their neighbourhood, their office or their favourite bar, drawn in pixel art as the places they walk around.

  • Their people as characters

Partner, friends, family, even the dog: each with their own line, a favour to ask or a clue to give.

  • Their quirks as gameplay

Always late? The whole game becomes a race against the clock. Obsessed with tidiness? A puzzle about putting things in the right place.

  • An ending that stays

The last screen carries your message, or messages from everyone who loves them. It's the part people remember.

What makes it different from a name on a mug

Most personalized gifts personalize the surface: a name, a photo, a date. A game about someone personalizes the content: what they say, what they do, who they love. That's why people recognise themselves in it, laugh out loud, and then get quietly emotional at the end.

How to give it

Send the link with no explanation and watch their face when their name appears on the title screen. Or put it on the TV at a family dinner and let them play while everyone watches.

Scenes their game could have

  • A pixel-art living room with a red sofa, TV, rugs, the family and the pets.

    Their home

Their living room, their sofa and their dog, who always eats what he shouldn't. Every corner hides a memory.

  • A pixel-art office with desks, a printer and a glass meeting room.

    Work

The printer that always jams, turned into the final boss. And the meeting that could have been an email, as a choice to laugh at.

Why it's different

Not a template with their name on it

Some “personalised” games swap the hero's name and little else. We write a story with chapters, and what really happens in their life becomes what you play. Three examples from the demo:

  1. What we were told“At his niece's wedding in 1998, he took the waiter carrying the four-tier cake for a cha-cha-cha.”

What you playA rhythm minigame: you dance with the waiter to the beat… and the cake ends up on the floor, just like that day.

  2. What we were told“His little dog Biscuit eats whatever she shouldn't.”

What you playA puzzle: Biscuit has the car key. You have to fill her bowl so she drops it.

  3. What we were told“His old Mini hardly ever starts: every Sunday he pushes it down the road with his mate and the neighbours.”

What you playA race against the clock pushing the Mini down the road, collecting cha-cha records on the way.

Every game is directed by a person in the studio: they write the humour for that person, play it all the way through and nothing ships without their OK. 16-bit pixel art and original music, composed for the studio.

Frequently asked questions

Is it a real game or a slideshow?

A real game: you walk around maps, talk to characters, solve item puzzles, compete in timed minigames with ranks and face a final boss. It's short by design, with secrets that reward a second play.

Do they need to know how to play video games?

No. It plays with four arrows and one button (or on-screen buttons on a phone), the text is large, and nothing requires fast reflexes.

How much is it and how long does it take?

Adventure is 59 €, Celebration 89 € and the Special commission from 179 €, VAT included, charged in euros. It's ready 7 days after we have their full story, or in 72 hours with rush delivery (+40 €). It's digital, so there's no shipping and nothing to get stuck at customs.
