What data we process
Your contact details (name, email and, if you give it to us, phone).
When you start the guide: their name and what you tell us. Your email only if you give it to us: at the end, for the receipt and the game, or earlier, if you want to keep it with your link (we don't send you anything for it).
The story you tell us in the guide: the main character, their people, their stories, sayings and tastes, and any suggestions you leave for the game. It may include data about other people: by sending it you confirm you may share it to make the gift.
The photos you upload, if any.
Payment data is processed by Stripe: we never see or store your card.
While you complete the guide, what you write (without photos) is saved in your order, even before you pay, so you can continue on any device with your private link. Photos are uploaded when you send their story, before payment.
If you arrive through a friend's referral link, their order code (an opaque code with no personal data), to apply the discount.
If you review us after delivery: the rating, the sentence, the signature you choose (first name and city, initials or anonymous) and your permissions. It is only published if you tick the permission; you can withdraw it at any time.
Purposes and legal basis
To make and deliver the game you order and to look after you (performance of the contract).
To use the story and photos of the people in the game (your consent, which you give when sending the story and can withdraw at any time).
To invoice and meet tax obligations (legal obligation).
We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it and we don't profile you.
Where it is and who helps us
Orders, unfinished guides and photos: Supabase, on servers in the European Union (Ireland), in private storage with no public access.
Payments: Stripe. It may process data outside the EU with the safeguards required by the GDPR.
The website and the games: Fly.io, on servers in Paris.
Production: to make the game, the order is downloaded to the studio's computer. We use software tools, including artificial intelligence, that process the story and photos to propose the script and the pixel portraits; a person in the studio reviews and decides everything.
How long
Photos are deleted when we deliver the game, including those you upload in the guide.
If you start the guide and never pay, we delete everything (what you wrote, your email if you left it and the photos) after 30 days from the last time you touched it. As long as you come back before then, it's still there.
If you had already paid and don't finish the guide, we keep what you wrote so you can continue whenever you like, until you finish it or cancel the order; if you cancel, we delete your data.
The story, the suggestions and your contact details, for as long as the order and its rounds of changes last; then we delete them, except invoicing data, which we keep for as long as the law requires. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
The delivered game contains neither your contact details nor the original photos, and stays online under the terms of sale: Your game will stay online for at least 5 years from delivery; if we ever had to take it down, we'll warn you well in advance and give you a way to keep it.
Cookies
We don't use analytics or advertising cookies. When you start the guide, your browser stores (local storage) its private link to take you back to it if you cancel the payment. Stripe's payment page uses its own cookies, needed to pay securely.
If you arrive through a referral link (youthegame.com/r/…), we store our own technical cookie, “ytg_ref”, with the code of whoever recommended us for 30 days, only to apply your discount. It doesn't identify you and isn't shared with anyone.
We measure our audience ourselves, without cookies and without third-party tools (legitimate interest in knowing which pages work). When you view a page or tap a main button we only store which page it was (without any part of the address that could identify you), which website you came from, the language, whether it's a phone, tablet or computer, and an anonymous code for the day. That code comes from your IP and browser mixed with a random key that we change every day and delete: we don't store your IP or your browser, and the code can't tell who you are or follow you from one day to the next. If your browser asks not to be tracked (Do Not Track or GPC), we measure nothing. This data is deleted after 13 months.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your data, or to take it with you, by writing to hola@tecomalabs.com. A person replies.
If you think we haven't handled it properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the data protection authority of your country.
